The Witch’s House is a game.
I’m serious it is a literally a game.
I discovered it when I was in the throes of the breakup with my baby daddy and needed something to take my mind off of it. That is when I discovered Let’s Plays ladies and gentlemen and happened upon Markiplier. I will freely admit I used to have a crush on him and watched his videos NONSTOP. They were fun, scary, and I love watching horror games I will never play. Plus he’s cute. It’s a winning combo okay.
The Witch’s House is a about a witch and her house.
In the game you are Viola. A lovely young girl who out for a walk in the woods happens upon a talking black cat (uh okay) who leads her to this house that is full of my most favorite thing in the world

Murder
Yup, this is a house laced with all kinds of traps and full of monsters. One false move and it’s game over. And just when you think you reach the end…
Well, you should really play and find out 🙂 or you can read the manga like I am! Which is what this review is about.
While the game follows the narrative of Viola the manga’s main character is Ellen.
Ellen is our resident witch.
Born with a disease that is breaking down her body, she is a lonely girl abandoned by her mother and neglected by her father. You can see how this desolation and painful existence can lead to madness.
And to murder.
I’ll return him to the earth.
Mini spoilers but not really because this is merely the beginning but Ellen kills her mother and her father and a demon cat stumbles upon her dying body in the street and turns her into a witch.
They take off into the woods into The Witch’s House where Ellen’s broken body becomes whole and she has all that she needs in the world.
Happy story, right?
Lmao, did you forget whose blog you were reading? The girl who LIVES OFF OF MURDER.
Quid pro quo, Doctor Lecter…That demon kitty lives off of souls and Ellen might have anything she desires in the house but she is oh so lonely and thus she lures playmates through the woods and into the house to toy with until she grows bored.
And the house eats them.
It’s like a goddamn ouroboros.
So, I was huffy about this. Not about the manga because I thought it was fantastic but it’s the fact that EYE put this on my Christmas list and my FATHER DID NOT BUY IT FOR ME. Yes, I got a gift card but the fact that I had to be responsible to buy my gift had me irritable. Lmao, I asked for BOOKS AND GOT NO BOOKS FOR CHRISTMAS. AS FELLOW BOOK LOVERS YOU CAN SEE HOW PEEVED I WAS.
This manga was amazing however and that surprises me because I am often very letdown by adaptions and the fact that to me I thought they would have very little to go on I was very very shocked.
I didn’t think I would sympathize with Ellen as much as I did but seeing her backstory I truly did. Do I think she should have murdered helpless people brutally? No, of course not. But the girl is clearly deranged and her parents didn’t help in the slightest.

The art is gorgeous and the story is well told. I already read the second volume I’m just a little bit behind on my reviews. I have NO idea how many volumes there are going to be honestly. I initially thought there would only be two but after finishing the second I was like there’s no way it ends here and after doing some extensive research aka googling for 5 minutes found that there will be more. YAY.
This is a must read if you’re a fan of some dark murderous horror manga which I definitely am.
I’ve been in a big manga mood lately especially since I bought my new kindle fire. The comics and manga just look fantastic. And there are so many great mangas available for Kindle Unlimited that I have read that I can’t wait to review on here and share with you all 🙂 Like Fairy Tail.
As I said this is only volume 1…the next edition is even darker as we see how much farther Ellen sinks into her witchcraft and we meet Viola, the innocent village girl who Ellen “befriends”. Stick around for more of my witchy manga reviews and reviews in general!

such pretty graphics but definitely disturbing, haha.

omg I NEED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE. ❤ The art is super cute yet creepy, a combo that's not always easy to pull off. Great screenshot choices. I hope other RPGMaker games get manga adaptations, looking at Misao and Mad Father and another one with Witch in the title that escapes me at the moment lol.

The Crooked Man and ib I’m also familiar with, they would all make such fantastic manga, would watch/read any adaptations of them tbh. I need to check out Mermaid Swamp for sure! These creators need to keep these games coming, they’re so good. ;-; ❤

This sounds seriously messed up. BUT I randomly watched a Bon Apetit kitchen episode where I discovered Markiplier for the first time and yes, he’s eye candy! I did not mind watching a few of his video chats on YT but I quickly realised he mostly talked about scary video games and I sadly can’t jam with that lmao Haha so random! Great review though! I’m tempted to read this because I’m curious but I would probably die of fright.

Duuuude. That first image is so pretty and whimsical and boy did it turn dark fast. xD I just adore the sound of this, and I did say I wanted to read more manga and graphic novels this year. Guess you’re probably just gonna be my hook-up with that, it sounds like. 😉
