Happy Monday ya’ll! It’s been..a weekend. Juliet caught a fever late Saturday and burned hot and slow until mid Sunday so our fun plans to go pumpkin picking were extinguished 😦 Not a great weekend overall. Hopefully this week runs better.
Anyway, it’s Monday and that means it’s Goodreads Monday.
Goodreads Monday is a meme that gets all credit from @Lauren’s Page Turners .
Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme hosted here. To participate, choose a random book from your TBR and show it off. Don’t forget to link back here and feel free to add your links to the comments so that others can see what you picked.
So today, I’m doing something different this Goodreads Monday 🙂
For the first time in like my ten years on Goodreads I actually
WON A GIVEAWAY FOR A PRINTED BOOK
I was shocked when I received the email and oh so happy
My not so random book this week is
Yetu holds the memories for her people—water-dwelling descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners—who live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one—the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu.
Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities—and discovers a world her people left behind long ago.
Yetu will learn more than she ever expected to about her own past—and about the future of her people. If they are all to survive, they’ll need to reclaim the memories, reclaim their identity—and own who they really are.
Why I Want To Read This
The synopsis sounds amazing and hello, Daveed Diggs?! I still cannot believe I won a giveaway for this. I was crushed when I was denied on Netgalley and Edelweiss but dreams do come true! Super excited for this one.
Happy Monday to you all! What’s your Goodreads Monday???
