WWW Wednesday 10/8

Helllo, it’s one of my favorite posts of the week because I get to catch up on what all of ya’ll are reading as well 😀

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

Right now…nothing! I’m thinking about picking up a Stephen King book because it’s OCTOBER and he is one of my favorite authors lol. I’m thinking of The Shining because of my friend Kitty or one of his short stories…I absolutely love his story The Body. The movie Stand by Me is one of my faves as well.

Recently Finished Reading

I finished quite a lot despite working this weekend and being exhausted. I’m on my period and in pain and quite drained ugh. The heating pad…IT DOES NOTHING.

I finally read The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson both which were amazing and heartbreaking. I’ll be featuring that soon 🙂 I re-read a few books. Zombie Fairy Tales by Kevin Richey and Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper by J.L. Bryan and you can read my reviews here:

I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving which was…disappointing honestly lol.

Finally, I read The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane by Julia Nobel! That review will be uploaded in a few hours! Yay books!

What Will I Read Next, Pikachu???

This coincides with my currently reading tbh lmao I have NO idea.

What’s your WWW my little ghosties?

  1. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on We Have Always Lived In The Castle!! I hope I love it when I read it, probably also this month. And am glad you’re reading The Shining too! I am first in line for it @ my library and should be going through any day. Really excited. So much reading this month. ❤

  2. Now try to way Wailing Weird Wights three times fast. xD I totally hear you with the heating pad thing. Hope you’re feeling better soon. =/

You’ve got lots of good spooky reads here! Zombie fairy tales sounds pretty interesting … but zombies sort of wig me out lol.

I read The Haunting of Hill House, and it was okay, but I don’t think I liked it as much as you did. I watched the series first, though, and was expecting something more along those lines, since I loved it, but it’s not quite the same. I did love Theo and Luke, though, and I felt they did such a disservice to poor Luke’s personality in the show compared to the novella. xD

    1. thank you ughhh i wish i could turn my period off. it’s just evil.

i knoww like i really loved the show but i’m just trying to separate the two completely. i am so excited for season two though. poor nelly tho. she didn’t deserve that fate in BOTH instances.

  3. What a great week of spooky reads! Even though you had some issues with The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane, the cover is gorgeous ❤ I'm currently reading Undertones, which is super strange and pretty much the closest to spooky I'll read 😛 Hopefully it picks up a bit! Jen

  4. Unsurprisingly to no one I haven’t read any of these creepy books and I’m not sure if I ever will. I actually got a copy of The Haunting of Hill House in my Owlcrate box which I opened yesterday and the cover is always enough to scare me! I’m really curious about We Have Always Lived in the Castle! I know it’s somewhat of a classic, I just don’t know if I can work up the courage to read it LOL hope you enjoy whatever you decide to read next, Amanda!

    1. LOL i love you dini. you are too much. the haunting of hill house honestly isn’t that scary! it’s more of a psychological horror but nothing outright scary and we have always lived in the castle is the same but i completely feel you my love. you are adorable lmao.

  5. loved this post – also love your tagline (if there’s a haunted house in it i’ll read it) – reading that, it occurs to me that I haven’t read a lot of haunted house fiction; the two that came to mind are The Witching Hour by Anne Rice which I read years and years ago and The Haunting of Hill House which I recently-ish read for the first time (https://jhohadli.wordpress.com/joannes-extra-ness/blogger-on-books-vl-2018/the-blogger-on-books-vl-the-haunting-of-hill-house-by-shirley-Jackson). Stand by Me is one of my favourite films too (hard to escape Stephen King films good and bad growing up in the 80s) – I did a post on King and fav King adaptations around this time last year too (https://jhohadli.wordpress.com/2017/10/31/favourite-stephen-king-books-or-films). Sorry books and films get me talking. Here’s my WWW is here: https://jhohadli.wordpress.com/2019/10/10/bookchat-books-ive-read-so-far-this-year-books-im-currently-reading-and-books-i-dnf

    1. I read the witching hour when i was in hs! it was…interesting lmao. and hahaha it really is hard to escape them and i definitely get you.
      thank you so much!
