Series of the Week: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Hello, welcome to series of the week where I babble incoherently about a series I like!

This week is Vampire Academy! SO

I’m running out of series to feature lmaooo. Well, series I’ve actually already read. So I’m saying fuck it and just doing series that I also want to read or have started reading and never finished. I sort of did it last week with Amelia Gray: Graveyard Queen and also, this is my blog MY DOMAIN MY CASTLE I WILL DO WHAT I WANT.

It’s been years since I first read Vampire Academy. Like…nearly ten years, before I had my Juliet years, what I do remember from it was pretty good and I’m not one that usually likes Vampire novels.

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires – the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger . . . and the Strigoi are always close by.

So…I love books about boarding schools lmao. I don’t know why, they just seem so comforting and cozy to me. Pair it up with some ancient hidden evil like vampires and we have ourselves a hit.

I remember reading it and being like Rose is badass and the cover is really nice but I hate vampires but then I read it and I fell in love INSTANTLY.

I do believe I still have this box set around on my bookcase somewhere.

Update: I do not. I only have Twilight which…maybe Juliet will want when she’s older.

I might have gotten it from my aunt so this will definitely be fun to read and enjoy again. Lmao, this wasn’t much of a review and more of me musing.

Have you read Vampire Academy? What did you think about it? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. I read the first three years ago during my vampire mania, and the unique story really stuck with me! It was the second series about a vampire boarding school that I read, but was so completely different from the other one that I was hooked!

  4. I feel the boarding school obsession! Think it’s so cool to see what happens to characters in the semi-isolation. My fave use of that element is in Donna Tartt’s The Secret History! (That one’s actually a college but shhhhh)
