Thank you to the author Gibbo Gibbs for providing me with a copy of his debut novella in exchange for a fair and honest review 🙂
As the old world burned, the elite departed to colonise space in search of a new home. Most of the human species perished on earth’s surface, but a protected few remained. Many generations passed without question, but now suspicions are starting to rise. Follow the story of Maz and her best friend Hap, as a chance encounter with a stranger lures them into a mission to decide the future of humankind .
I am not a sci-fi reader so this was all pretty brand new to me overall. Gibbo shows promising talent as an author and introduces us to a plethora of characters such as Maz, Hap, and Mitch. My favorites personally are Maz and Hap. Hap is hilarious and Maz is headstrong and takes no shit. Exactly my kind of girl.
Their world is dystopian and because of that guards are up and there is no time for nonsense or to dawdle. The tone is fast paced as is the writing, so much so, that often I got lost and was more often than not a bit confused as to what was going on. I feel as though the story could have been stretched out a little more to fully embellish the story line. It did feel as though we were just plopped in the middle of nowhere.
This is fairly quick read that involves rebels, destiny, domes, temples, and gods. If you are a fan of post apocalyptic and sci-fi than this would be the book for you.
