When I was younger my sister and cousin told me something that simultaneously pissed me off but made me extremely happy.
I don’t remember why this happened or what brought this up but I remember that I was in the kitchen playing an intense and ferocious game of Neopets on the family computer and they were outside. I stood up, slid open the patio doors and screamed outside:
“I AM NOT BOSSY!” with a huge grin on my face.
Again, I was annoyed but I was also proud. All I could think of was Kristy Thomas from The Babysitters Club whose leading characteristic was that she was bossy. She was bossy but she was also a good leader and I took it as a good thing so if I was bossy then fuck yeah that was a compliment. BUT I also knew that my sister and cousin didn’t mean it as such, so it stung but also…I was the boss bitch.
Lmao, I’m leading this into the Thursday topic because this is about books that I think you should all read. And in no way do I mean this bossily but also…I totally am 🙂 I’m joking of course >_> cough cough.
The Thursday Discussion is a book prompt started by Ally Writes Things. Every other Thursday we get a different prompt to write about! I’m going to just pick my top 5 6! Short and bittersweet.

Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite
A gothic horror bible essentially that follows two gay lovers through madness, insanity, and Birdland. I read this to TATTERS in my emo stage and it’s still one of my favorites ever. Purple prose overload and full of smut, it’s absolutely wonderful.

The Babysitters Club: Boy- Crazy Stacey by Ann M. Martin
Speaking of The Babysitters Club, here’s the motherfucking Babysitters Club.
This is one of my favorite books. Beachsiiide boy crazy Stacey! Stacey and Claudia have always been my favorites. Claudia number one of course. BSB has been the very first book series I’ve ever read and it’ll always have a special place in my heart. I still have the original series! I’ll do a post one day ❤

The Unicorns Go Hawaiian (Sweet Valley Twins Super Editions #4) by Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne
Again, one of the very first series I ever read. A bunch of middle school drama and I ate it up. If I read it now I would probably roll my eyes out but I don’t even care. Sometimes you just need nonsensical mess like this in your life to relax. These were the best kind of books to just sit back and unwind with after a stressful day of school lmao.

The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
I’ve written abut this so many times on this blog because it’s so good and I CONSTANTLY think about it. I desperately need a reread.

I Remember You: A Ghost Story by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Philip Roughton (Translator)
I’ve also written about this one a lot but goddamn goddamn goddamn *Beyonce voice* a ghost story set in Iceland??? How can I not? This chills me to the bone still. It’s twisted as all hell. Please read this
.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig
Here is my review screaming about how great this book is.
READ THIS BOOK.
I’m done being bossy…for now. Hope you all have a fantastic Thursday!
Yes Sweet Valley and The Babysitters Club I need to do a whole series re-read of both lol.

A terrific, and varied collection of reviews, Amanda. I don’t read quickly at all, so I’m always amazed by book reviewers. Plus, I definitely relate to the “need (for) nonsensical mess” in my days. 😀 Hugs on the wing!
