First Lines Friday: August 23rd

I’ve seen a lot of my favorite bloggers doing this and well, I’m not no punk bitch so I’m diving into it as well. Lmao, please ignore me. It’s been a week and my filter is ALL THE WAY OFF.

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?  If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

So, we begin

The night mom died I had a vision. I was half drowsing in my bed, my headphones cranked, watching the ceiling fan swirl. It was probably four in the morning, and I couldn’t sleep. I could never sleep.

Heavy stuff and yes, that’s what hooked me into this book immediately. Have a guess or do you give up?

So for some reason edelweiss approved me for yet another book. LOL, why?? I am a mess but I have the 50 declines to keep my ass humble.

I literally just started this book and I am already madly in love with it. It’s sad, creepy, and I’m going to devour it all. I was really excited to get the email that I was approved. The cover alone makes me drool.

And thus is my First Lines Friday. Link me to yours below!

  1. Insomnia and death? This starts out pretty dark but it’s intriguing. Is this YA? I love the cover too – I’m such a cover-judge when it comes to choosing arc reads. Congrats on receiving a copy. I hope the ending is as good as the start! 🙂
