ARC Review: Haunted by Trysh Thompson

This shocks nobody who knows me but I am obsessed with ghosts.
Growing up in a family full of spiritual people who praised God and openly acknowledged spirits , it’s really not a surprise I hold these beliefs. Ghosts can sometimes be scary yes but often times they are marks and afterthoughts holding onto the world because what’s beyond this plane is terrifying.

I get it.

So this is a short story collection very true to its name. The stories and poetry within are haunted don’t get me wrong but even so within these stories is the underlying theme of love and hope. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this anthology. Some of the stories are bittersweet but most are joyful and you think of them long after you’re done reading them.

The theme of life and love after death is prevalent in all of these stories which makes it such a great book I believe. Not only will these stories unsettle you but you’ll take away that hope, love, and a bit of insanity is enough to keep you grounded to one place long after you perish. 

Overall, great anthology! If you get scared easily I highly recommend this book because it’s not so much terrifying as it is sweet and sad. There’s a lot of romance thrown in as well!
