Thursday Discussion: Favorite Books by Women Authors

It is that time today folks. Happy thursday! The Thursday Discussion is a book prompt started by Ally Writes Things. Each Thursday we get a different prompt to write about! Fancy huh?

I…am so excited about this week’s.

August 8: favourite books by female authors

Awwww yes. Okay, so. I usually read books my female authors. I do it deliberately too. I know most of you have seen that running joke going around about how male authors absolutely love to describe the female body. Breasts in particular. Listen, unless we’re in the middle of a sex scene with everything in ultra HD I do not need to constantly read about the diameter of a character’s nipples or how much her boobs bounced boobily down the stairs.

Also, female authors are wonderful and just kick ass. Most if not all of my favorite authors are women and I’m talking too much lmao. Let’s get into the prompt.

Earlier this year I wanted to find female horror authors and I thought that would be near to impossible. Stupid me. There are many amazing ones and from then, obsession was born.

Cruel Works of Nature: 11 Illustrated Horror Novellas by Gemma Amor

I’ve talked about this before I’m sure but Cruel Works of Nature: 11 Illustrated Horror Novellas by Gemma Amor is one of my favorite reads of the year. It’s a horror anthology packed with stories that terrify you and also make you think . I highly reccomend this for any horror fan.

I Remember You: A Ghost Story by Yrsa SigurðardóttirPhilip Roughton (Translator)

This was a fun, creepy read and wow that ending. An Icelandic thriller wrapped around a ghost story. One of my very first reads of 2019 it left me breathless and wanting more at the end simply because the book was so good.

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

I love chick-lits. They’re so over the top and cute. Sophie Kinsella is the QUEEN of chick-lit and this is the first book I read by her and I see why everyone is so smitten.

Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda

This book scared me. It’s a cold, dark slip into madness page by page, word by word. Without getting too deep, I felt seen. It put into perspective a lot of my own life experiences with certain men and dating and while this book terrified me, I loved it as well.

The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin

I love medical dramas, I love the fast pace of a hospital. Maybe it’s all those years watching ER with my mom lmao. The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin is a women’s fiction set in a medical setting. The story is about two friends, one is a surgeon the other is a pediatrician, and how they navigate through life together. It’s funny, sad, and an AMAZING read. I still think about it often and i cannot wait to read more from Kimmery Martin.

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand.

Last but not least is…The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand. Okay, so sometimes I have a problem reading the entire synopsis of a book because I’m lazy and can’t pay attention so when the death/murder aspect came into play I was like what in the fuck lmao. I was expecting a fun, light chick lit and got my favorite thing instead *~* MURDER MYSTERY. This book is AMAZING. I really like Elin as an author too. The Nantucket setting makes me crave seafood.

And that’s enough out of me lol. Have you read any of these books? And what are your fave books by female authors? Let me know and happy almost Friday!
