ARC Review: Brave with Beauty by Maxine Rose Schur, Patricia Dewitt-Grush (Illustrations), Robin DeWitt (Illustrations)

There are so many people in history, more importantly women in history, whose names and stories are never taught to us and it’s nothing less but a shame. I’m nearly 30 and until this day never knew about the brilliant artwork and charity of Queen Goharshad and it’s sad.

This is a delightful children’s books which teaches and acknowledges the art and charity of a Queen who under her reign and influence supported the arts and was instrumental in many profound buildings such as Herat’s Mousallah Complex. This was a simple yet beautiful book and the illustrations are breathtaking. The pacing is perfect and it has a beautiful message all throughout the story which is especially important for little girls.

It’s never too soon to begin teaching kids about history from all corners of the world and this book is a perfect example of that.

    1. I know! Unless you take specific classes in school you would never really learn it outside of your own research.
The artwork in this entire book is completely gorgeous I agree.

  1. There really is so much to know and learn about histories worldwide. I’m pretty embarrassed to admit that I really need to learn more about my own country’s history and important historical figures (which I missed out on since I didn’t live here until I was an adult)! This looks like a really cute (and importantly educational) read πŸ™‚
