Today and tomorrow are my last day’s working at the bakery and I thought I would at least properly say goodbye to it with a review.
Jenny Colgan quickly became one of my favorite authors this year with her funny and romantic, food themed chick lits. Her Summer Seaside Kitchen Series was the very first one I picked up and I fell in love straight away.
Welcome to Mure, a tiny Scottish Island on the sea that Flora has fled from after the death of her beloved mother. Flora is caught up in the exciting, if not frazzling, life of London when fate calls her back to her hometown where she once again has to face her family while ON call with her job. Oh, and she’s also madly in love with her boss who has no idea who she is.
This is such a lovely, lighthearted chick lit and the descriptions of Scotland AND the food are wonderful. Jenny Colgan is a master at making you want to travel and lick the pages of your book, kindle, phone…Whatever you’re reading off of. She also provides recipes in the book! This is definitely a must read if you’re looking for a light, relaxing read but I recommend snacking on something while you do.
I know I did with some butter cookies or with a slice of layer cake from the bakery I worked at. It’s been an interesting 6 months and a lesson in customer service. I learned a lot about cakes and different pastries and now back to healthcare I go!

Omg yes! This actually sounds like the perfect book for me because I’m low-key obsessed with Scotland and I love food? I also love books about food (whether it’s to do with actual cooking/baking or set around cafes etc.). I also really like the sound of her Summer Seaside Kitchen series! Must pick these up ๐
